Engineering Technician III

The Job/Work Order Planner coordinates and expedites the flow of work and materials within or between Government points of contact and the government client according to daily and weekly prioritization and mission schedules. Duties include reviewing and distributing production, work, and shipment schedules; conferring with department supervisors and trades personnel to determine progress of work and completion dates; monitoring tool inventory levels, and solving production problems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Receive assigned job requests from the PM and Government customers for work to be performed in the Prototype Fabrication Facility
For all jobs assigned:
Prepare cost estimates of material, tooling and labor for submission to the PM andthe Government
Create and maintain production data base, production schedule and coordinate with management staff to prioritize job-orders for production optimization
Identify material and tooling required and initiate procurement requests for the Government if necessary
Ensure daily production status are monitored to achieve customer expectation
Follow-up as required with all teams to expedite flow of materials and documents to meet production schedule and customer expectation
Analyze and prepare documents needed for production measurement and cost control
Conduct data analysis and make recommendations to support raw material supply, tooling and finished part demand
Maintain the production data base schedule and performance trends reporting as required
Complete status reports for production progress, work in process, and raw material inventory management.
Interact with shop floor management on a daily basis to resolve issues regarding manufacturing efficiencies or provide additional information as requested from manufacturing management staff and customer/client
May be asked to perform other duties at a lower level of proficiency
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
College Degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
High School diploma or GED Required
5 or more years’ experience in manufacturing estimating environment preferred with an emphasis in CNC and NC Machining, Welding and Fabrication Rigging, Electrical and Painting processes.
SKILLS AND ABILITY EXPECTATIONS
Thorough understanding of ERP systems and Microsoft Office products; strong computer skills in MS Excel, MS Word and Data Base management.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Detail-oriented, ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks with strict deadlines.
Good customer service/phone skills and flexibility for handling a wide range of activities and customers. Capable of navigating complex and diverse personalities and projects with high profile prototype and testing requirements.
Using logic and reasoning to identify solutions to problems.
Demonstrate personal time management skills.
Set the example by actively contributing to department and company goals.
Take initiative and seek additional training or direction as needed.
Build quality into work. Ensure processes are consistent with quality objectives. Be aware of current quality levels versus target levels.
Develop and achieve departmental/company goals and controls. Make suggestions for improvement in areas of cost reduction, processes, quality and productivity.
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
The contractor shall be licensed and certified in accordance with state law and NSWC PC regulations or instructions related to safety.
Relevant civil service equivalent skills may be found in the GS-1152 series.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust and possibly Secret security clearance.
EQUIPMENT AND APPLICATIONS
Thorough knowledge of Machining, Welding, Rigging, Electrical and Painting trades and manufacturing shop production/quality functions.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
General office environment. The physical demands of the job require manual work, lifting and loading of up to 75 lbs. Also general office skills and tasks Microsoft Office Suite tasks Production control, and the operation of a motor vehicle, Fork lift, and Category 3 Crane certification as directed by the PM.
