JOB DESCRIPTION:

The contractor will perform various semi-skilled labor activities supporting NSWC PCD facilities management. Thesupport requires interaction with all levels of technical, scientific and management personnel throughout NSWCPCD. The following duties will be required:

  • Transport, install, and reconfigure office furniture systems and stand-alone furniture. Stow and retrieve such items as required to facilitate various Facilities activities or space moves.

  • Perform minor facilities maintenance tasks

  • Investigate trouble calls as requested by the NSWC PCD Facilities Trouble Desk, and report information back to the Trouble Desk.

  • When required by hurricane and tropical storm conditions of readiness set by the Government, fill, prepare, place, and later remove and empty sandbags in accordance with NSWC PCD Facilities Management hurricane preparation drawings. Perform other ad hoc hurricane preparedness measures including removal of potential windblown projectiles and tying down of facilities-related equipment.

  • Work on ladders may be required. The maximum height shall be as set by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and related safety requirements.

  • Transport various items to Defense Reutilization Management Office (DRMO), co-located with NSWC PCD on NSA PC. Items transported may be up to 1,200 pounds each.

  • Transport various Government-owned furniture items and related materials to facilitate various Facilities activities or space moves on and off base.

  • Deliver printer and copier paper orders from the NSWC PCD receiving area to occupied NSWC PCD buildings for which the orders were placed.

  • Transport, set up, take down, and store chairs, stages, tables, podiums, and ceremonial decorations and audio/visual equipment in support of NSWC PCD official on-base meetings, conferences, functions, and events.

  • Physically inventory Government-owned furniture items and related materials in Government-provided warehousing to include item types, characteristics (size, style, etc.), condition, quantity, and location.

  • Operate mobile equipment such as Government owned pickup trucks, forklifts, small gasoline or electric driven vehicles.

  • Walk-through all non-secure NSWC PCD spaces once every two months to:

  • Identify and replace non-functioning light bulbs in fixtures attached to ceilings

  • Replace non-functioning light bulbs identified by users in Government-provided furniture

  • Report inoperable lighting ballast to NSWC PCD Facilities Trouble Desk

  • Test the functionality of emergency lights and replace spent bulbs or inoperable batteries

  • Turn-in spent bulbs and batteries to NSA PC for disposal.

  • Perform related activities of general laborer support.

  • Inspect all fire extinguishers in NSWC PCD buildings.

  • Complete annual Government and company trainings as required

  • Provide Monthly Status Reports.

Qualifications

REQUIREDQUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent oral and written communication

  • High School diploma

  • Ability to obtain/pass Public Trust background clearance

  • Facilities experience to include moving office furniture, setting up and breaking down chairs, tables etc for meetings/conferences/events

  • Valid drivers license

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior Government experience

  • Forklift experience
